# Why CRONA per second?

One nuance about CronaSwap's farms that some of you may have noticed is that we calculate emissions based on CRONA per second, rather than per block like the farms on Binance Smart Chain and Ethereum do. On Cronos, the block times are proportional to the transaction activity on the block. As such, the block times can vary from as low as 4.9 seconds to as high as 5.9+ seconds back.

Live updates on Cronos Block Times can be seen here: <https://cronos.crypto.org/cassini/explorer>

What does this mean for CronaSwap? In regards to the Farm, not much. You will still earn rewards just like the farms on other chains, and just as consistently, if not more so. In regards to Swap, however, this is where Cronos shines. As transactions go up on the Cronos Blockchain (hopefully with help from us), block times will go down, and this means faster confirmations of transactions and faster trades. Faster trades mean better arbitrage opportunities, less slippage, less or no front-running, a better user experience, and the potential for more advanced trading applications.
